Bill Horvitz, a guitarist, composer, bandleader and catalytic collaborator who spent four decades combining an expansive palette of styles in an ever-evolving roster of ensembles, died of pancreatic cancer at his home in the central Sonoma County town of Forestville on Jan. 15. He was 69.
