ANZ drops $600m sale of UDC

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group has abandoned plans to sell its Kiwi car loans, asset finance and investments business UDC Finance to China's HNA Group over New Zealand concerns about the conglomerate's ownership structure.

Street Talk in December revealed the deal was in trouble after New Zealand's Overseas Investment Office (OIO) torpedoed HNA's proposed $NZ660 million ($603 million) acquisition of UDC Finance. The OIO, the equivalent to Australia's Foreign Investment Review Boar
