Tomorrow, across the street from Pleasure Bay in South Boston, city and state dignitaries will gather to rededicate a skating rink and reacquaint a community with the story of the local hero after whom it is named.
The Francis L. Murphy skating rink has been a sacred Southie touchstone for more than 50 years. It’s also been a launchpad for generations of kids who have skated their way into elite colleges, the Olympics, even the National Hockey League.
